Let’s not follow in Spain’s footsteps.
Spain saw one of the most draconian Covid-19 lockdowns in Europe, but two months after it was lifted, the virus is spreading faster than in any neighbouring nation.
It now has Europe's fastest-rising caseload, with 142 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past two weeks.
By the time the state of emergency ended on 21 June, Spain was registering 100 to 150 cases per day. That number has risen to more than 3,000.
But the number of deaths over the past week stood at 122 last Thursday, a far cry from the 950 registered on 2 April alone, the blackest day in Europe's deadliest per capita coronavirus epidemic, a worrying rise nonetheless.
Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, says:
“We have come a long way from the height of the COVID-19 pandemic but the virus is still circulating. Vigilance, preparedness and coordination are indispensable to prevent generalised outbreaks.”
As the country feels like there’s a ‘new normal’, we mustn’t forget that there are still localised lockdowns in the UK. Letting our guard down now could easily be the opportunity for the nasty virus to laugh in the faces of those who have been so stringent with hygiene measures for months.
Cleanliness and protection still lie at the heart of the success of containing Covid-19. Every business will have some sort of sanitising solution in place for their staff and customers, but are they enough to really protect? Businesses will be needing robust hand sanitising solutions for months to come.
Let’s talk about 4th Platform’s answer to all the potential headaches associated with some sanitising solutions. At this stage in the battle against Covid-19, a robust and long term solution is necessary. And, could be key to preventing a second wave too.
Our stylish stations are:
These units have already proved their worth and have been installed at PureGym in Portsmouth. A spokesperson for PureGym said, “Having the digital contact free hand sanitiser in our club allows our members to see our health and safety guidelines on the screen whilst sanitising their hands, the sanitiser protects their hands for up to six hours after application.
The benefit of the screen function also serves as a communication messenger board to advertise what’s happening within our club and update our Portsmouth members on the latest news and information. It has given them confidence that the gym they train at is clean and proving a good service to them.”
In summary, it really is important to have a sanitiser station that is robust, long lasting and of the highest quality and, by potentially paying for itself, these stations are a win-win solution
