4th Platform offers (here’s the technical bit….)

ADSL - ADSL (AKA broadband)

Is the entry level low cost data connection service that can have high maximum bandwidth but is distance sensitive from the exchange.

Bandwidth ranges are dependant upon the distances from the exchange. Downloads of 24Mb max 250Kb minimum to upload speeds of 2.5Mb max and 100Kb minimum.

GEA - Generic Ethernet access

This uses the reliable backbone of a service with an SLA but uses the FTTC service to connect to the customer site, more expensive than FTTC but less cost than a ethernet line.

Same bandwidths as FTTC download/upload options exist here 40/2, 40/10 and 80/20.

EFM –  Ethernet first mile

A copper service that is distance sensitive but as a 21CN service can offer a fantastic dedicated bandwidth option for businesses in locations that can receive it.

Bandwidths up to 35Mb and offer both a standard 5:1 or premium 1:1 service, standard data and premium for voice.

EDA - Ethernet Access Direct

Used to connect two locations with Ethernet services.

10Mb, 100Mb and 1Gb.

FTTC - Fibre to the cabinet

(AKA BT Infinity) offers high bandwidth but is still in early roll out stage, so it is not availiable in all locations, great service for users who have outgrown the ADSL options!

Three download/upload options exist here 40/2, 40/10 and 80/20.

FTTP - Fibre to the Premises

Fibre to the Premises is in early stages of roll out and will become more common over coming months as the 21CN roll out gains pace.

Ethernet Service

Fibre 10Mb, 100Mb and 1000Mb (1Gb) options.

The new leased line big bandwidth alternative can provide bandwidth as needed, but the location in question can incur higher installation costs.

Delivered as a RJ45 service from a fibre convertor.
